Materials Exploration

This past spring semester, in my Drawing III class at the University of Wyoming, I was challenged with the task of trying out new media and substrates for my first project: materials exploration. I chose several different types of pens and pencils on the front and back of a Mylar plastic surface. I was able to achieve unique textural effects in my abstract design. To be honest, I probably will resort to using traditional materials from here on in most of my drawing projects, but I am glad that I had the opportunity to disprove the adage: "You can't teach an old dog new tricks!"
